I'm Back -- Again Q: Candy, Why did you stop blogging in the middle of press tour?
A: Some jerk hurt my feelings.
Q: What?
A: I had someone email me and say, "If you're just going to rehash your day, why bother?"
Q: And you let that bother you, why?
A: Well, I was exhausted. School started in the middle of press tour, and I was feeling overwhelmed. And I felt like if no one appreciated it, why bother?
Q: What about those emails where people were asking what happened. The hundred or so that said they really enjoyed the updates and hoped you did more?
A: Um. Well. Did I mention I was exhausted while I was in L.A.? Oh, and that I have a temper. One mean person can ruin the fun for everyone else. Besides, I was on Twitter and Facebook and updating like a mad woman.
Q: Well, what are you going to do to make it up to the rest of us who do care?
A: I'm going to post some photos below of my set visits. I'm starting out with GLEE and CHUCK. You'll see photos of Sue Sylvester's office and of the Buy More. I really liked those computer bags with 40s pinups. If you know where I can find those, I would like to buy one.
And my plan is to stop by here at least once a week. :) Did I mention I have new book out? TAKE ME IF YOU DARE. It's some sexy fun, I tell you. Especially if you like spies. And seriously, who doesn't like a hot spy. :)

Press Tour Day Three It was NBC today. They began with the Olympics where Bob Costas and the gang say they have tons of fun planned for viewers. I like the winter olympics so it's not really a hard sell for me. Then it was time for the poor NBC execs to explain how they are trying to pull their network from the gutter. They, for the most part, were candid. It at least sounds like they have a plan. One that begins with moving Jay,Conan and Jimmy once again. Their little experiment didn't work. Now they have to try something new.
Brian Williams and NBC news was here. He's my second favorite news anchor. I'm a big fan of Diane's. Always will be. The gang from CAPRICA was here. I like the first two episodes of the season, but was a little iffy about it. Everyone tells me to hang until episode four where I'm assured I will be hooked. I'm telling you so you'll know to give it a shot too.
Dance Your Ass Off, 9 By Design adn Work of Art: The Next Great Artist were here. I don't mind Dance, but I'm really looking forward to Work of Art. You guys know how much I love art. I didn't hate 9 by Design, but I would have liked it better if they focused more on design and less on the family aspect. They have 7 kids, and shows that feature kids like that bother me.
One show I will be watching Parenthood. As most of you know Maura T. has cancer and had to back out of the show. Lauren Graham replaced her. It gave Jason Katims and Ron Howard a chance to re-evaluate the original pilot and correct it. It's tighter, better written show. It's going on my DVR list. I laughed, I cried and I was moved. It's the best thing NBC's done in a really long time.
Parks and Rec with Amy Poehler and the gang was up and they made me laugh. I don't watch the show, or I should say I didn't. I will now. Like a lot of shows they've blossomed in the 2nd season. So now I have to check it out.
I wasn't planning on staying for The Marriage Ref, but it was Jerry Seinfeld and that made me curious. By the time the presentation was over, I was hooked. It's comedy feature funny things couples fight about. A celebrity panel will weigh in on who they think is right and then Tom Papa, The Ref, and one very funny guy makes the final call on who wins. It sounds like fun. But they had nothing to show us so I'll have to give you the thumbs up or down later.
NBC finished their day with a stars party. I'd planned to go down for a few snacks, but ended up talking to several folks including Alison Sweeney, Adam Baldwin, Greg Daniels, Phyllis, Leslie and Oscar from the Office. I mentioned this earlier on Twitter and Facebook, but I Alison Sweeney gave me the best advice. Someone told her to just look at as five pounds. When people ask how much weight you have to lose, it's 5 lbs. That big number can be overwhelming, so concentrate on that 5 lbs. Then move on to the next 5. THis is one of these things we know, but it clicked with me tonight.
I wasn't feeling my best tonight, but hung around longer than I expected to at the party. Tomorrow is FOX so if you have questions... You know what to do. :)

Press Tour Day One and Two So I'm beginning my blog a day behind. I know. I'm not going to make excuses, but know that there is a A LOT going on right now. Enough of that, let's delve into the first day of press tour... Friday I hit the ground running. I had lunch with friends and then we were off to the set of Flash Forward. As many of you know they are taking a long hiatus, which usually means it isn't coming back. That isn't true this time. The producers told us that taking a break gave them a chance to take a look at what they were doing and where they wanted to go. I can tell you the clip they showed sucked me right back in. And of course left me with more questions that I can't wait to see answered. Then we were off to talk to producers and the actors. I talked to Jack Davenport, Joseph Fiennes, and Dominic Monaghan. I won't talk trash, but I will tell you that two of those men were very kind and wonderful. :) The other one, not so much. I will also say, because it needs repeating, Joseph Fiennes is one beautiful man.
Then we were off to Community. This is a show that I saw the pilot, but didn't really keep up with through the season. BUT I started watching reruns during the holiday, and it makes me laugh out loud. This cast is one that is naturally funny. They had us laughing throughout the entire press conference, and the set really does look like a community college. Kind of dull and gray. It was decorated for Valentines, which was fun.
Then we were back here for a cocktail party with the folks from NCIS. Robert Wagner is guest starring on the show as Michael Weatherly's dad. I found them both charming, and as promised on Twitter and Facebook, I will give the show a chance.
Saturday was CBS/Showtime/CW day. CBS Prez Nina Tassler confirmed, yes we already knew, that Three Rivers was canceled. After Nina we had Chuck Lorre and the show runners for Two and Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. If you aren't watching these shows, you are missing out. Big Bang is one of my favorite shows of all time. The cast of Miami Medical features Jeremy Northam. He gets to keep his accent in this one, but I have to admit I probably won't be a regular viewer of this one. If you like medical dramas, this one might be for you.
Showtime was next with Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara and Oliver Stone's Secret History of America. I'm going to admit that while I appreciate the acting in Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara, don't enjoy the shows. I find them both difficult to watch. They make me uncomfortable and for some reason, even though I've tried, I can't get emotionally invested in the characters enough to take the ride. I'm a big fan of Diablo Cody who writes USofTara, but I just can't get into that show. I am VERY interested in Oliver Stone's documentary series. It's going to be controversial, but I think he may bring some stories from our past to light that we haven't seen before.
Next up was the CW where we chatted with the beautiful casts from Life Unexpected and Vampire Diaries. I'm a fan of both shows and looking forward to see where they go this spring.
Today NBC is up. The big gossip is about Jay Leno going back to Late Night and pushing Conan and Jimmy back later and possibly out. It should be an interesting. We also have Syfy, Bravo and Oxygen here.

Lots 'O Stuff First of all, hello! I hope you guys are doing great. I can't believe in 10 days we will be into October. Time is flying by. I'm so crazy busy these days that one moment it's Monday and the next it's Friday, which isn't such a bad thing but I'm having trouble keeping up. :)
On the diet front. I'm on week three of BodySolutionsUltra.com (800-600-4995)and so far I've lost 11 lbs. If I had any doubts this stuff works, I don't now. I was soooo bad with the food at FEN CON (OMG, I had too much fun!) this past weekend. And still I lost weight. I'm sold. Remember if you decide to try it to put me as the one who referred you because they are giving $2 a bottle to Camp Summit for every bottle sold through me! I've done so well that I'm beginning to wonder how much I could lose if I ate like a normal person, instead of having chocolate cake for lunch. Snort. No, seriously. Even my dad is on board. He's calling me tomorrow morning to tell me how much he has lost and I can't wait. Knowing him he'll have lost 11 lbs in a week, because he's a MAN. They have it so much easier.
My galley's came in for TAKE ME IF YOU DARE. I cannot wait for you guys to read this book. It's out Feb. 1, 2010. And the hero rivals Jake in "Dragons Prefer Blondes" for my affection. :)
I've been working hard on stories for the new Fall season. If you checked out my Blaze Blog (http://blazeauthors.com/blog/page/2/)then you know my top 10 favorite new shows. But I'm also very excited about the return of several shows including one of my all-time faves "Castle" tonight. I heart this show so much it hurts and it's coming back strong. Wait, I'm also going to say that about Big Bang Theory. I just tweeted that Jim Parsons and Hugh Laurie duked it out on my DVR and Jim won. Though, I can tell you this two-hour HOUSE tonight is friggin' awesome. You saw him going into rehab on the last episode, now you get to see what happened. Andre Braugher is fantastic as a guest star. I hope they bring him back. There's just too much fun TV on Monday and Thursday nights.
As for school. I'm turning in my first paper tonight. Fingers crossed that I don't sound like a crazy person. It's one of those where I think I understand the assignment, but I could be totally off base. And dudes, don't even get me started on the work's cited page. I swear it was making my brain bleed working on that last night. LOL.
So tell me what you guys are doing, and what TV shows you are looking forward to. I really want to know. :)

A Weighty Subject I thought a lot about this post. I didn't want to come off sounding like some commercial, but at the same time if I had a friend who was losing weight and it was as easy as what I'm doing, I'd want to know about it.
Here's my story...
A few weeks a go a sales rep from the radio station called and asked if I'd be interested in endorsing a weight loss product. At first I was a little hesitant. I've tried EVERY stinkin' diet program out there. I bought the special meals, I did the shakes, counted points -- you name it, I've done it. And I'd just about given up. My thyroid is shot and I have diabetes, and I'd sort of decided well, I'm going to be fat.
I asked her about the program and she told me that all I had to do was stop eating three hours before bed and then take a cap full of the drink. I honestly, didn't see a way in heck it could work, but at the same time I was curious. I was heavier than I'd ever been in my life, and I didn't see the harm in at least checking it out.
I had a chance to meet with the owner of the company before I did my first spot and he explained the philosophy behind what he was doing, and told me about the ingredients. It's really healthy stuff. Nothing that makes my heart go crazy or makes me short of breath. (I can't take a lot of supplements or diet pills for those very reasons).
I've lost nine pounds so far, but the big thing is I didn't change what I was eating. I just stopped eating three hours before bed. To me it's like dieting for three hours a day and I figured I could do that, and I do. If I think I want something late at night, and it isn't because I'm hungry, I'm an emotional and nervous eater, I just tell myself I can have whatever I want in the morning. It works. Now I've only been doing it a couple of weeks, and my results may not be typical. Some folks might loose a lot faster or slower. But it goes to work while I sleep and gets rid of the fat in your body.
If you're interested in the product I'm putting the website below along with the phone number. BUT I have one favor to ask... They will give $2 from every bottle sold under my name to my favorite charity Camp Summit (http://www.campsummit.org) if you mention my name when you call 800-600-4995, or if you order online at bodysolutionsultra.com it's the referral tab (the big 96.3 Candy). If you have any questions you can ask me here.
Like I said, I didn't want to be "endorsement girl" but I can't believe how great this is working and I just wanted to share. :)

Saturday and Sunday Press Tour So it was a busy weekend with PBS, the TCA awards and elections for the TCA board. PBS had some great sessions and if you aren't watching the network you really should. I know, I know, you might actually learn something. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. My morning began with Cookie Monster trying to bogart my eggs at breakfast. I will admit he was very sweet about it. The Electric Company is going to a daily format and I was shocked by some of the statistics about kids who can't read in our country. The Human Spark is Alan Alda's new series that talks about how we are different from the rest of nature and how we socialize. Very cool stuff and done in an entertaining format. I wish I could say the same thing for Ken Burns National Parks. I wish this 12-hour series was as passionate as he is about the subject. I do have a crush on Park Ranger Shelton Johnson, who is absolutely poetic when he speaks. This is one of those series that is beautiful look at, but can be dry at times.
Some of the Sunday presentations included Dinosaur Train. Fun stuff and very engaging animation. It's done by the folks at Henson so you know it will be fun for the kids too. David Tennant, Johnny Lee Miller and Chiwetel Ejiofor were here for Masterpiece Contemporary. Tennant is doing Hamlet, and is also the host of the show. Ejiofor and Miller star in the fascinating Endgame about the behind the scenes machinations that happened before the release of Nelson Mandela. We had to wonderful singers. Joan Baez visited via satellite. She was singing at a festival Sunday night. Then the incomparable Patti Smith. I really enjoyed both interviews and learned more about Smith than I'd ever known before. I have a great deal of respect for people who live life on their own terms and don't put up with crap.
We had our Board elections for the Television Critics Association. I'm still not really sure how it happened, but I'm the new vice president. I believe I can do some good for the organization, and hope to do so in the coming year. Then it was time for the TCA Awards. Several of my favorite shows and stars won. Including Jim Parsons, Big Bang Theory, Battlestar Galactica, Bryan Cranston, Mad Men, ER, The Alzheimer's Project, and Betty White were some of those honored. It was a fun night because I had a chance to spend time with my lovely friend Caroline Mendoza, and my new friends and social media gurus Kassia and Kirk Krozser.
More tomorrow about today's events with CBS.

Press Tour Day Four I can't remember what happened this morning so I'm skipping straight the set visits this afternoon.
First up was Three Rivers the new Alex O'Loughlin series. The show is set in Pittsburgh, but is being filmed on the Paramount lot. The set is huge and very hi-tech with gadgets and flat screens everywhere. I'll post pics later, but it's the nicest hospital set I've ever been on. Very clean and pretty. I joked I thought I could live there. Alex and the gang were funny, and he slipped into that lovely accent of his, which I adore. He plays transplant surgeon who is the lead of an elite team. Also starring are Katherine Moenning, Daniel Henney, Christopher Hanke and Alfre Woodard. Not one question was asked during the session about Moonlight, and I for one, was most grateful. Now maybe fans of that show, and yes I was one, can move on. :-)
Next was the new show NCIS: Los Angeles. I'm not super familiar with the original NCIS, but I like the people on this new one a lot. It stars Chris O'Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Peter Cambor, Adam Jamal Craig and Rocky Carroll. I'm a big fan of most of these people, but especially of Hunt. She's just one of the kindest people you will ever meet, and a lovely actress. She'd won over LL and Chris. In fact she told a great story about not being able to remember the names of the components of a cell phone. It was a pretty involved list and she'd made herself a cheat sheet. She was worried about it, and Chris took the list and taped it to his chest. His back was to the camera so it worked out great. If the show works the way these people do together it has a chance of real success. There will also be some crossover from the other NCIS, so that will be fun for fans of both shows. Funny little side note. I noticed Adam's t-shirt which was one of those three wolf and moon shirts. I wondered if it was given to him by the wardrobe dept. so I had to ask. He said the shirt was his, and then went on to explain to the crowd about it's mystical powers. I just thought it was cool that he was wearing it. I didn't think that many people knew about the shirt. :0) Oh, and the set has been made to look like an old mission and is very eclectic. I definitely would want to live there, even though it's an office. :)
Then we were off to Fox lot and the set of Bones. It seemed strange after all these years that we'd never been there. We ended up in the FBI offices where Booth (David Boreanaz) spends a lot of his time. Emily and David were there with the exec producers and chatted a lot about the chemistry. There was some guff about Hart putting them together last season, but it not being real. Some folks took issue with that. I don't want them together. It will ruin everything. When the show returns, Booth will still be trying to recover some of his memories. Emily says you'll see that what he's gone through has sort of affected them both. David is still on baby watch in real life, and he seemed distracted at best. They were filming on the main set, so we didn't get to see that, but I really wanted to. I was kind of tired by this time, so I'm having trouble remember details about what they talked about. I'll have to look over the transcript and let you know later. I can tell you the FBI offices, look like every other government office I've been in. Kind of dingy and old. :-)
Back to the Dollhouse set we went. We were there last summer, but they had even more furniture and stuff this time. It's a big two story facility with cool rooms everywhere you look. Joss and the gang were seated over the pond in the center of the set. The whole gang was there. Joss talked about the many difficulties he had last season in pulling the show together. He explained that he now knew what they had to do. The show will have a much different feel. I will honestly have to look at the transcript to give you more details, but I can remember the answer to my question. I asked the cast if they felt like this first episode of the new season, that they'd just about wrapped, was different. The general consensus was yes. Tahmoh said that we would be surprised by what we saw, and that he felt really good about it. The other actors pretty much said the same thing. And I must take a moment to mention that Tahmoh is one fine looking male. Just sayin'. :-)
I promise I'll post more details later. It was a great day, but I'm wiped out!

Press Tour Day Three I had one of those mornings where I couldn't get away from the phone, but eventually I made it downstairs in time to see Monica and Mo'Nique talk about their new shows for BET. Monica had some interesting stories about Michael Jackson, and she and Mo'Nique both made me laugh out loud. Lunch was with the gang from Planet Green. Ed Begley and his wife were there. And Bill Nigh (I always have to say the Science Guy in my head when I say his name. I can't stop doing that.)
The Discovery networks were up next. Animal Planet had Zak George with several pups for his new series Superfetch. I'm a sucker for any panel with pets. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos chatted about their new show Masters of Reception. I adore those two. They are funny and so easy to talk too. TLC also has a new show Police Women of Broward County. I will say those are some of the most beautiful female officers I've ever seen. I'm looking forward to Dr. Kara Cooney's new series Out of Egypt on Discovery. She goes beyond the normal archeological dig, and takes us into the ritual sacrifices and religious aspects of ancient civilizations. She was very charming and truly passionate.
HBO had a good lineup. Edward Norton and Amy Rice were here with their documentary By the People: The Election of Barack Obama. I don't care about your affiliation, you'll find this film fascinating. It is a real behind-the-scenes look at a grass roots effort. Ronnie Cho had an amazing story in this and it was easy to go on the ride with him. Thomas Jane and the gang from Hung were here. The session was filled with double entendre to the point of annoyance. I was completely charmed by the gang from Bored to Death, which included Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis and creator/writer Jonathan Ames. The show is a half-hour comedy about a writer with a drinking problem who decides he can be a detective. Funny stuff.
Speaking of funny stuff. Larry David was here for Curb Your Enthusiasm which debuts it's 7th season in September. Larry was in a good mood, which isn't always the case. There was a clip of he and Rosie O'Donnell going at it, this season looks very funny. For those of you wanting a Seinfeld reunion it's going to happen on Curb. Though it mostly likely won't go the way you expect. The entire cast will be on the show and on the final episode.
Robin Williams was here for his comedy special Weapons of Self Destruction. He was funny and candid about his troubles this past year from the divorce to the heart surgery and medical problems that came after. He looked really good, better than I've seen him in years.
I skipped the Food Network party. I missed Alton Brown, who I adore, but I had a chance to go to In and Out Burger and hang with my friends. We don't get many moments like that, so it was very nice.
Tomorrow is mostly about the set visits. We'll be visiting the new NCIS set and Bones, chatting with teh Dollhouse folks and several others. Should be fun.

Press Tour Day Two It's been an interesting day. Long and a bit tiring. The day began with MTV and DJ Am's new series Gone Too Far where he will do interventions with alcoholics and drug addicts. He's had a couple of second chances, and wants to do the same for others. Then the guys from The Buried Life were talking about their show. They've made this life list of things they want to do before they die, and it's a pretty cool list. Then when the accomplish one of their tasks, they help a strange mark something off his or her list. Very charming young men, with a social conscious, but the show is fun.
Joan Rivers came by to chat up How'd You Get So Rich. She was funnier than she's been in a long time. The show is about the new rich and how they made their money. Could be fun. Let me honest, I absolutely love Jeff Dunham, but he tried a bit too hard to be funny this morning. He brought Walter, one of his characters. His new show for Comedy Central could be funny, but havent' seen it yet. Glenn Martin DDS is a new stop-action animation series with Kevin Nealon for Nick at Nite. The clips weren't that funny, but it's hard to tell sometimes.
Then it was on to the History Channel and the perfectly lovely Matt Damon, who is one of the producers and performers for The People Speak. Marisa Tomei was also here, and looking well and beautiful. National Geographic had several shows to pimp including the Second Annual Expedition Week with everthing from Mars to Sharks. Paul Walker was involved with the sharks. I have to say, he's a very sweet fellow. Some might even say he's kind of HAWT. What I liked is that he seemed genuinely interested in what people had to say. Very unceleb of him and quite charming. Spencer Wells was here with his The Human Family Tree, which is a fascinating project and show. We swabbed our cheeks to find out our origins. I can't wait for the results. Rescue Ink Unleashed was fun. These guys are so great. Loud, a little crazy, and they do such great work.
Starz had several cast members, including Dennis Hopper and Eric Roberts, from their series Crash. Lucy Lawless wore a see thru top, which sounds worse than it was, for her new series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. This show looks very cool. Raw, bloody and erotic.
BBC America is always one of my favorites. Usually I don't even care about the shows, I just want to listen to those from across the pond talk. But they had some great shows to pimp. You've probably already seen Being Human, and I can tell you it gets better as it goes along. Though, I liked the pilot. The cast is quite charming, as is Joe Thomas from The InBetweeners. James Nesbitt was here to talk about the very serious Occupation, which is a different take on the guys coming home from war. Then of course the lovely David Tennant was here. He's my favorite Dr. and always will be. :-)

Press Tour Day One I'm out here in Pasadena covering the new TV season at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour. We do this twice a year in Jan. and July where we talk to the actors, producers and writers from all the new and returning shows. It's two intense weeks were we all have unprecedented access to the people in the TV biz.
So each day I'll try to post about who I saw, and anything fun that might have happened. I'm also tweeting throughout the day and open it up so you can ask questions as various stars take the stage. You can keep up with that on twitter.com/candacehavens or on facebook. Just a reminder that I'm usually typing these blogs late at night so there may be even more typos than usual.
Today was day one, and it began with a presentation of the TV Academy's Foundation Archive of American Television. It was a blessedly short presentation and I know it sounds kind of boring but it isn't. Basically, beginning Sept. 1, you'll be able to visit emmytvlegends.org and see amazing interviews with some of television movers and shakers from the past and present. These are really indepth interviews with everyone from Walter Cronkite to Carol Burnett to William Shatner. Cool stuff.
Then Adam Richman was hear with Man vs Food. I have to admit I'm not super familiar with the show, but I liked him and will check out the new season which begins Aug. 5. I don't get people who eat things so hot they cry, but evidently it makes for good television. And I'm all about finding those great diners and eateries around the country.
Fox Reality had the lunch presention where we met Hollywood Househusbands, most of whom are actors. The wives were also here and the session was more interesting than I thought it would be. I was truly inspired by men who do dishes and laundry. Mine does garbage and yardwork, but I'm wondering if he can be trained to try something new after all this time.
Joy Behar (The View) was here to plug her new show on HLN. She says it's her chance to finally get a word in about topics she's interested in.
John King, Christiane Amanpour and Soledad O'Brien were here to talk about the new things they're working on with CNN. Amanpour's Generation Islam could possibly open a lot of eyes in this country if given a chance. I liked listening in on King's stories about Obama, O'Brien has a new documentary Latino in America that is absolutely fascinating. One story gave me an idea for a book that she talked about, but that's a whole different conversation...
I think the room was a little tired, or maybe it's because we'd already written about Dark Blue but there wasn't a lot of excitement in the room for Dylan McDermott, Jerry Bruckheimer and the gang. I know it's a good show, I just can't get into it. I need characters I really care about, and I just can't find that connection.
I did enjoy George Lopes who has a new latenight show coming in November. We're a tough room of critics but he got a few laughs. He's offering something a little different for the late night scene, and I hope he succeeds. Lopez Tonight will be on TBS.
Tonight's party was sponsored by AMC. Cast members from Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Prisoner, Rubicon, and other AMC shows were there. Had some face time with a lot of the Mad Men cast, and only drooled slightly on Jon Hamm.
It would be very easy to hate the lovely January Jones, if she wasn't so darn sweet. She told us a story about how she keeps getting into trouble for being too skinny. She tries to gain weight but can't. Wait, we do hate her... kidding... Sort of...
Tomorrow is a very full day with everyone from Matt Damon to NASA scientists. Oh, and shark people. I love sharks. The guys from Rescue Ink are here. Some of them are staying down the hall from me, and they are so sweet. Very polite, hold the elevator kind of guys with more tatoos than I've ever seen in my life.
I'm thinking about getting a tatoo, but there's so much pressure in finding just the right thing.
